Since the time media magnate William Randolph Heart uttered the phrase “You furnish the pictures and I’ll furnish the war,” the best place to find media bias is in photos. And the best place to find biased media photos is the New York Times.
I broke the 87 photos in the 2009 “Year in Pictures” into three categories: US, US in the World, and the World. Within the latter category, seven cover Israelis/Palestinians and 21 pertain to the remainder of the globe. That’s a 1:3 ratio, an overstatement of 172,000% (using land mass).
Within those seven photos, four clearly portray Israelis as aggressors/Palestinians as victims; most of the rest are biased as well, although it’s not as obvious.
